Description
The Richmond round oak extending table has a diameter of 1100 mm and one centre butterfly leaf extension of 400 mm stored within the table. The table can be extended to 1500 mm long, making an oval.
This Richmond round oak extending table seats four people without extensions. If you use the extension you gain two extra place settings making it a six seater with more space for serving dishes.
It has a chunky top with a square edge but the top is softened and a lovely square leg with the corners softened. The Richmond round oak extending table is protected by a matt lacquer finish which enhances the grain.
Extending table mechanism
The legs are each fastened by two strong bolts to make a rigid structure. The main top and extension leaf has male and female locating pins to align the table sections. When fitted, the extension also has a spring loaded latch to hold each section together, just in case someone pulls on the end of the table and a wine glass disappears down through the gap.
When moving the table, it needs to be picked up from underneath the side rails to avoid putting unnecessary strain on the sliding mechanism by lifting on the top. Dragging tables is risky as catching a leg on carpet or the edge of a tile can damage the table and the leg at the fixing point.
This round oak extending table is part of the Richmond Oak Collection
